Below, some news and notes for Tuesday... - Arthur Wolcott (Cornell Class of 1949) and his wife, Audrey, and the Seneca Foods Foundation made a $20 million gift in support of Cornell's Award Match Initiative (AMI). In making the gift, Wolcott explained "Athletics is important in building the Cornell University brand," and made specific reference to Cornell's 2010 Sweet Sixteen men's basketball team. Reporting on the gift, the Ithaca Independent quoted Cornell sophomore, Shonn Miller, on the impact of the new financial aid program in his decision to choose Cornell. Miller said he had 20 scholarship offers, “But when [the school] said I could come to Cornell for $2,000 a year, it made the decision pretty easy. I mean, are you kidding me?”
- Cornell Basketball's Alumni Weekend is November 9-11. During the weekend, the Big Red host Western Michigan on November 10. During the game, for their 25th anniversary, Cornell's 1987-1988 Ivy League Championship and NCAA Tournament team will be honored. Register to attend.
