Above, an illustration of and poem about Gil Halstead (Cornell, class of 1914) from the March 4, 1913 issue of the Cornell Daily Sun. Halstead was a member of Cornell's back-t0-back 1912-1913 and 1913-1914 Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball League (the predecessor to the Ivy League) championship teams. In addition to being named 1st Team All America in 1912-1913 and 1913-1914, Halstead was the 1913-1914 National College Player of the Year his senior year.
