  • Last night at Cornell Basketball's Award Banquet, the following Big Red players were honored for achievements:
Team Most Valuable Player-Chris Wroblewski
James Paul Memorial Award (6th Man of the Year)-Galal Cancer
Rebounders Club Award (Teamwork and Leadership)-Drew Ferry
Ivy League Rookie of the Year-Shonn Miller
Honorable Mention All Ivy League-Jon Gray
First Team All Ivy League-Chris Wroblewski
Cornell All Time Assist Record-Chris Wroblewski
  • Reporting on Virginia Tech's hiring of James Johnson as its new head coach, the Daily Press writes, "At George Mason, Johnson replaced Bill Courtney, who took a similar position at Providence. Courtney later worked at Virginia and Virginia Tech before succeeding Steve Donahue as Cornell’s head coach when Donahue took over for Al Skinner at Boston College.  'When I lost Bill Courtney, who for nine years was my best friend and confidant and was such an important part of our program, I thought we needed someone very, very special to take his place,' [former George Mason head coach, Jay Larranaga said.]  'Bill Courtney left some big shoes to fill, and J.J. was able to do it in a different way.'”
