Wayne Journal writes, "[Purdue's Matt] Painter welcomes five new scholarship players — freshmen Bryson Scott, Stephens and Basil Smotherman along with graduate student transfers Carter and Errick Peck (Cornell).When veterans Jacob Lawson, Anthony Johnson and Sandi Marcius left the program in the spring, it made sense for Painter to bring Carter and Peck on board to give a young team additional mature voices in the locker room to go with Terone Johnson and Travis Carroll. Carter is a shooter; Peck is a lunch-pail forward who will defend, rebound, score garbage points and do whatever is asked."
