- Hammer and Rails, a Purdue blog said of Errick Peck (Cornell '13), "Peck has been a great garbage basket guy and was a high school teammate of Kelsey Barlow. I really wish we had picked him instead of Barlow now."
- Soaring to Glory writes, "For all intents and purposes, Steve Donahue is finished at Boston College. He got his four-year term, and there is no logical rationale to keep him after the performance we have seen. 'His' players have bombed big-time, he has never won here aside from the first year with Al Skinner’s team, and we do not collectively have the patience of Cornell to wait another few years to see if he can feel his way out of the ACC basement. He doesn’t deserve the extra time, either. Donahue’s a lame duck and we all know it. If he’s not, we’re in trouble."
- A Columbia Spectator writer argues that Lions fans should be cautiously optimistic and notes, "As for the source of said sentiment, I’m not sure. Maybe it’s because I watched the team win its first Ivy game in 2013 over Cornell and then win just three more the rest of the way."
- Cornell's incoming recruiting class next season includes four members: Riley Glassmann (Fremd HS) Palatine, IL, 6-5, G, William "Will" Bathurst (Olean HS) Olean, NY, 6-3, G, Jordan Abdur-Ra'oof (Gonzaga HS) Washington, D.C., 6-7, F, and Pat Smith (Archbishop Wood HS) Warminster, PA, 6-5, F. The Bucks County Courier Times notes that Smith (above) and his Wood team are playing a tough schedule.
- Cornell RPI Watch: The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a measure of strength of schedule and how a team does against that schedule. It does not consider the margin of victory, but only whether or not a team won and where the game was played (home/away/neutral court). The formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents' average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage (OOWP). (See: CollegeRPI.com for a further explanation of the formula.) The RPI may be the most influential factor in NCAA Tournament seeding. Cornell's RPI rank as of January 24, 2014 is No. 335 out of 351 total Division I teams. While neither the Ken Pomeroy or the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) are used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the KenPom.com site ranks Cornell No. 345 in the nation, while the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) have Cornell at No. 338. Both sites are predominantly used by fans and the media.
