- In the NBA D-League, Jeff Foote (Cornell '10) and his D-Springfield Armor are next back in action tonight, Friday, April 6 at 8:30 pm at Austin. All NBA D-League games are available to view online at no charge via the D-League's Futurecast. The Armor have already clinched a position in the D-League playoffs. Foote is averaging 14.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in the D-League after being named a starter at the D-League's All-Star Game during February. As of today, Foote is ranked 4th in the D-League in double-doubles and is also 4th in the league in rebounds. He averaged 1.0 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in 4 games for the New Orleans Hornets during a 10-day contract between March 9 and March 19. Foote currently is ranked by the D-League as its #6 overall NBA prospect. He was recently profiled in a video on NBA.com. The Daily Sports Herald compares Foote to the Phoenix Suns' Marcin Gortat and writes, "This kid is incredibly aggressive at 7 feet tall, and his activity around the rim is rarely seen in today’s big men. Foote stays active around the rim and goes after every missed shot, creating second chance opportunities. Foote has great numbers, posting 15.2 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game in the D-League. His intelligence on the offensive end is impressive. He possesses a lethal hook shot and boasts an array of post moves. At 265 pounds, he’s not very quick, but he has the ability to keep up at the NBA level. Foote is not as consistent as Gortat with his mid-range game, and also has plenty of work to do at the charity stripe. He can also get lost on defense, especially when defending quicker centers, but that can be improved with more conditioning. Foote’s offensive skills and unrelenting attitude on the boards are exactly what NBA teams look for in young centers. Foote is proficient enough to be a successful backup center in the NBA."
- Back on March 30, Cody Toppert (Cornell '05) scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for his Mallorca club of the LEB Gold, Spain's 2nd Division, in a win over Jeff Foote's former club, Melilla. During his pro career, Toppert, a 6'4" wing forward, has played in the NBA D-League, the CBA, England, Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria, New Zealand and in Germany (coincidentally for Louis Dale's (Cornell '10) current club, Goettingen).
- Above, Jeff Aubry (Cornell '99) throws down a dunk for his Arecibo Capitanes in the BSN (Baloncesto Superior Nacional) of Puerto Rico, the country's premier basketball league. Known as a defensive stopper, Aubry, a 6'11" center, is averaging 2.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for Arecibo which is 10-8 and in 2nd place out of 8 teams in the league. Aubry holds citizenship in Puerto Rico and with Puerto Rico participating in the FIBA 2012 Olympics Qualifying Tournament this coming July, he has been mentioned as a potential member of the national team roster and could find himself in the Olympic games. A well traveled pro player, Aubry spent several seasons in the NBA D League in the early part of his career with the Fayetteville Patriots and Florida Flame and earned honorable mention all NBA D League in 2002. During his more than a decade of pro experience, Aubry has also played professionally in the ABA, Spain, Mexico, Poland, Argentina, Uruguay and Peru.
