News and Notes: Tuesday Edition

• The Washington Post writes of recent coaching turnovers for Seth Greenberg at Virginia Tech, "This is the third-straight offseason in which the coach will need to fill two positions. Before the 2010 season, Greenberg also lost two assistant coaches when Bill Courtney accepted the head head coaching vacancy at Cornell and Ryan Odom left for an assistant coaching position at Charlotte."

• Several Cornell players could end up in NCAA approved summer leagues this offseason. Below is a list of Cornell players that appeared on NCAA sanctioned summer pro leagues last year:

• In the NBA D-League, Jeff Foote (Cornell '10) was named to the D-League's weekly honor roll. Foote and his Springfield Armor are next back in action tonight, Tuesday, April 3 at 7 pm at Erie. All NBA D-League games are available to view online at no charge via the D-League's Futurecast. Foote is averaging 15.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in the D-League after being named a starter at the D-League's All-Star Game during February. As of today, Foote is ranked 4th in the D-League in double-doubles and is also 4th in the league in rebounds. He averaged 1.0 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in 4 games for the New Orleans Hornets during a 10-day contract between March 9 and March 19. Foote is ranked by the D-League as its #6 overall NBA prospect. He is profiled in a video on NBA.com.

• Previewing tonight's D-League game between Springfield and Erie, the Erie Times News writes, "Springfield 7-footer Jeff Foote is averaging 15.1 points and 8.8 rebounds. Before he joined Springfield, Erie tried to bring him in as a practice player in training camp this season, but the D-League doesn't allow practice players in camp. Erie coach Jay Larranaga was an assistant at Cornell, where Foote finished his college career after playing at St. Bonaventure. Foote had a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Hornets last month."
