HEAD COACH BILL COURTNEY
Cornell head coach Bill Courtney is in his fourth season at Cornell (36-71, .336; 18-30 Ivy, .375) ... Courtney became the fifth Robert E. Gallagher '44 Coach of Men's Basketball at Cornell on April 23, 2010.

STORY LINES: For just the third and fourth time since the first week of December, the Cornell men's basketball team will have an opportunity to play games at the friendly confines of Newman Arena. The Big Red will play host to Dartmouth on Friday, Feb. 14 and Harvard on Saturday, Feb. 15 with both games tipping at 7 p.m. The games can be viewed live on the Ivy League Digital Network, or you can listen to Barry Leonard's radio call on HITS 103.3 FM.

Cornell has played some good basketball despite its 1-19 start, with two of the losses coming to 2013 NCAA Final Four squads (Syracuse, Louisville) and six total coming at the hands of 2013 postseason squads (Syracuse, Louisville and Notre Dame - NCAA, Stony Brook - NIT, Loyola - CIT, Western Michigan - CBI) that went a combined 161-58 a year ago. Cornell has shown glimpses of really good play despite its heavy reliance on underclassmen and inexperienced upperclassmen. Three of the team's top five scorers are freshmen or sophomores and the three top upperclassmen had made a combined 23 career starts entering the year. The Big Red led then-No. 8/7 Syracuse by 14 points in the first half and by six at the break, led a Loyola (MD) team that won 23 games a year ago by seven points with five minutes remaining and had a 19-point advantage against Binghamton with 13 minutes left and a 10-point lead with four minutes to play against Siena and led Western Michigan in the second half. Cornell went on to drop all five games.

The Big Red backcourt has been its strength, with its lead guards pacing the team in scoring. Sophomore guard Nolan Cressler has had an All-Ivy season for the Big Red, averaging 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, while junior Devin Cherry isn't far behind at 11.4 ppg., 4.2 rpg. and 3.0 apg. Cressler has averaged 21.7 ppg. over his last three games, while Cherry has hit for double figures in 10 of his last 11 contests. Freshmen guards Robert Hatter (9.0 ppg. 2.1 apg.) and Darryl Smith (4.8 ppg., 2.0 rpg.) have split starting duties in the backcourt. Senior forward Dwight Tarwater has been a consistent threat, especially on the backboards, and is posting 6.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per night. Freshman Robert Onuorah (3.3 ppg., 3.8 rpg., 0.7 bpg.) and junior Deion Giddens (3.8 ppg., 3.1 rpg., 0.6 bpg.) are holding down the middle, while senior guards Dominick Scelfo (2.8 ppg.) and Jake Matthews (3.8 ppg.) are providing firepower off the bench. The Big Red is scoring 65.0 points on 42 percent shooting. Much of Cornell's troubles have come on the defensive end, where the team is allowing 79.0 points on 49 percent shooting, including 39 percent from 3-point range.

A WIN OVER DARTMOUTH WOULD:
• snap a 12-game Ivy League losing streak.
• give the Big Red an 18-3 record against the Big Green in its last 21 meetings.
• extend its win streak over Dartmouth in Ithaca to 11 games.
• be the 1,211th in program history (1,210-1,345 in 114 seasons).

ABOUT DARTMOUTH:
• Dartmouth has been one of the league's most improved teams and has posted a 9-11 record (2-4 Ivy).
• The Big Green have lost seven of their last nine games, though the two wins was a home sweep of Penn and Princeton two weekends ago.

• Siyani Chambers (10.7 ppg., 4.5 apg.) and Kyle Casey (10.2 ppg., 6.3 rpg.) are also averaging double figures.
• The Crimson defense has made all the difference, allowing opponents to score just 60.5 ppg. on 41 percent shooting overall and 32 percent shooting from 3-point range.
• Head coach Tommy Amaker has revitalized the Crimson basketball program, guiding the team to its first three Ivy League titles in program history, along with a pair of NCAA tournament trips.

• Cressler has made 17 straight free throws over his last four contests.
• Cherry is averaging 13.2 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the floor in Ivy League play.
• He is also closing in on a number of career milestones. He needs two assists to hit 100, 36 rebounds to hit 200 and 66 points to reach 500.
• Senior Jake Matthews is averaging 6.3 points and 1.5 steals while shooting 42 percent from the floor in Ivy play.
• Senior Dwight Tarwater has already surpassed his career high in every category on the stat sheet except games played (25 in 2011-12 season). He needs four rebounds to reach 200 for his career and six points to hit 250.
