- Nunes Magician, a Syracuse blog, writes, "At Cornell University, all students are expected to pass a swim test. This ridiculousness stands as an obviously (never-corrected) relic of a bygone era when the Ivory Tower thought it might be wise for Ivy League kids to perfect the doggie paddle over an Olympic-sized distance. Of course, the only collegiate thing more absurd than Cornell's swim test is in asking college basketball players to be 'student-athletes.'"
- The Crimson of Harvard writes, "...The Crimson was 4-0 in the Ivy League, holding on by the skin of its teeth, but still displaying that 'clutch' factor at the end of games. Leads shrank and Lavietes Pavillion grew restless, but Harvard always seemed to hang on. Last Friday’s game at Cornell was more of the same—the Crimson led by as much as 21, but didn’t score for the final 5:42 and won by just two points... In Harvard’s first five Ivy League games, it was twice down double-digits late before waking up just in time (Dartmouth on the road and again at home), and thrice nearly blew late double-digit leads with poor free throw shooting down the stretch (Brown, Cornell, Yale)."
- Ivy Hoops Online posts its power poll and ranks Cornell No. 3 in the Ivy and writes:
3. Cornell (3-3) (28 points)- Cornell has been all over the map in the Ivy Hoops Online power rankings. Fourth, fifth, sixth, but never third. Cornell’s nod to the highest ranking this season by the IHO brain trust is simple: Errick Peck. Peck has always been that appetizer you wished was a entrĂ©e, but now, he’s playing like a four course meal from John Thomas Steakhouse (Ithacans, you know what I’m talking about). If Peck can keep his level of play where it has been the last three games (16 pts/7.3 reb/4 ast), the Red will sport the most dynamic frontcourt in the Ancient Eight. However, as it’s always been in this league, you’re only as good as your next game’s result, and on Friday, Cornell travels to the John J. Lee Amphitheater with sole possession of third place on the line. If Cornell wants the praise to be anything but fleeting, the troops from Ithaca will have to improve on their already impressive 2-1 mark away from Newman.

- Cornell RPI Watch: The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a measure of strength of schedule and how a team does against that schedule. It does not consider the margin of victory, but only whether or not a team won and where the game was played (home/away/neutral court). The formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents' average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage (OOWP). (See: CollegeRPI.com for a further explanation of the formula.) The RPI may be the most influential factor in NCAA Tournament seeding. Cornell's RPI rank as of February 14 is No. 219 out of 344 total Division I teams. While neither the Ken Pomeroy or the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) are used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the KenPom.com site ranks Cornell No. 232 in the nation, while the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) have Cornell at No. 217. Both sites are predominantly used by fans and the media.
