Will Cornell earn an invite to a postseason tournament such as the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament or the College Basketball Invitational? Let us know and leave a comment to this post. Below, news and notes for Tuesday...
- Jeff Foote (Cornell '10) finished with 13 points (5/7 FGs), 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block last night for his Zalgiris (Lithuania) club, currently ranked No. 5 in Europe, in a 78-68 win over Siauliai in the Lithuanian LKL League.
- Take a look at the recent invited teams from 2011 and 2012 to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT). How does Cornell's profile compare? Cornell could also earn an invited to the College Basketball Invitational.
- Due to Cornell's unique rotation patterns and considerable depth, the Big Red will have five players returning next season with at least 5 games of 2012-2013 starting experience. This includes Dominick Scelfo (5 starts), Galal Cancer (7 starts), Devin Cherry (8 starts), Nolan Cressler (9 starts), Shonn Miller (27 starts).
- The Columbia Spectator laments the Lions' disappointing season and writes, "The expectations only grew when the Lions beat Villanova on the road and later dominated Cornell in the second half to begin Ivy play 1-0. "
- MyLineageofChampions.com comments on committed Cornell recruit, David Onuorah (Marist HS) Atlanta, GA, 6-8, 230, F, Cornell, and writes, "Marist’s David Onuorah to Cornell is a no-brainer, too. Onuorah got the best of his match-up against West Virginia bound big man Brandon Watkins. At 6-foot-8, full of raw energy and an attitude of do-whatever-it-takes, Onuorah should find plenty of success over time for Cornell."
- The Ivy League posted its weekly honorees, tabbing Shonn Miller to the honor roll. The Ivy Office notes:
Shonn Miller, Cornell (So., F - Euclid, Ohio)
15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals vs. Penn
23 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals vs. Princeton

- Cornell RPI Watch: The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a measure of strength of schedule and how a team does against that schedule. It does not consider the margin of victory, but only whether or not a team won and where the game was played (home/away/neutral court). The formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents' average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage (OOWP). (See: CollegeRPI.com for a further explanation of the formula.) The RPI may be the most influential factor in NCAA Tournament seeding. Cornell's RPI rank as of February 26 is No. 217 out of 344 total Division I teams. While neither the Ken Pomeroy or the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) are used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the KenPom.com site ranks Cornell No. 237 in the nation, while the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) have Cornell at No. 224 Both sites are predominantly used by fans and the media.
