News and Notes: Thursday Edition

Below, some news and notes for Thursday...

  • The Ivy League Basketball Media Day is October 25. Bill Courtney will address the media at approximately 12:05 pm.  Typically, the Ivy League Office publishes a podcast of the full media day on its website with 24 hours of its conclusion
  • Just announced, Cornell's game on November 23 in the Las Vegas Invitational vs. Presbyterian will tip off at 4:30 pm.  Immediately following Cornell's game is Arkansas vs. Arizona State.  Gametracker will be available for all games in the Las Vegas Invitational.
  • Jeff Foote (Cornell '10) was selected as Player of the Week by Eurobasket for his play in Lithuania's LKL with Zalgiris.  Eurbasket writes, "American Jeff Foote (212-C-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Zalgiris and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 3  The 24-year old center had the game-high 8 points adding ten rebounds for Zalgiris in his team's victory, helping them to crush Juventus (#7, 1-1) with 18-point margin 71-53. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Zalgiris won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. It was one of impressive evenings for Foote as usually he does not deliver so high stats."
  • Louis Dale (Cornell '10) could see his season with KAOD of Greece in the A1 come to an end before it started.  Eurobasket reports, "The start of the new A1 League season has been postponed indefinitely. The clubs were unable to reach the agreement with ERT television company on the cost of the TV rights for the upcoming season. ERT cut the amount for almost 40% from the last years proposal which had not satisfied A1 teams. ERT reportedly increased the proposal before the voting but A1 teams still refused to accept it. The possible dates for the start of the championship are unclear at the moment."
