BOSTON — The Boston University men’s basketball team will look to continue their winning ways when they host Cornell on Saturday. The Terriers (4-6) are coming off a thrilling 69-62 victory in overtime over Quinnipiac.

Freshman John Papale hit the game-tying three-pointer with five seconds left to send the game in overtime against Quinnipiac. He led the team with 16 points and is averaging 8.9 points per game off the bench.

The Terriers and the Big Red (4-7) are meeting for the third straight season. The Terriers won at home 66-61 two years ago and the Big Red responded by winning 71-66 in Ithaca last season.

Junior tri-captain D.J. Irving has been the Terriers leading scorer all season and he is averaging 14.7 points per game. Irving has had some of his best performances in the past few games. He scored a season-high 24 points against Harvard and 14 against Quinnipiac.

BU’s leading rebounder this season has been Dom Morris. After getting benched against George Washington, Morris has responded by playing some of his best basketball. His season average is 6.7 rebounds per game and he’s scoring 11.2 points per game.

Despite the Terriers 4-6 record, they are outscoring their opponents by 2.3 points on average for the season. BU is averaging 2.8 less rebounds a game than their opponents and they are shooting 38 percent from the three-point line.

Cornell is averaging 62.4 points per game and their leading scorer is Shonn Miller. Miller leads the team at 10.6 points per game and is also the team’s leading rebounder at 8 rebounds per game. Miller has clearly been the best player on the court this season as he’s been their best defensive player, averaging 2 blocks per game and 2 steals per game.

Nolan Cressler also has been playing good basketball for the Big Red, averaging 8.1 ppg. Very similar to BU, Cornell has played a tough out of conference schedule. They’ve played games against No.1 Duke and Vanderbilt.

After the game, BU will travel to Orlando, Fla., for the UCF Holiday Tournament on Dec. 28 and 29.
