Chris Hine's quick look: This shouldn't be much a test for Notre Dame against Cornell, which ranked as the least efficient defense in the country entering Saturday, according to kenpom.com. One thing to watch: Can Garrick Sherman keep up his solid play in the post from last week and can Demetrius Jackson keep getting comfortable playing with Eric Atkins and Jerian Grant?

Key matchup: The Big Red will need to figure out a way to keep up with Notre Dame’s guards. Grant has scored 15 or more points in every game for the Irish, and Eric Atkins and Pat Connaughton each average double digits in scoring at 13 and 11 points per game. The three guards have combined to shoot 48.7 percent from the floor, and the have made 27 of 59 3-pointers (45.8 percent). The Big Red has two players averaging double digits in Cressler and Robert Hatter, who averages 11.4 points.

The skinny: Notre Dame is coming off a seven-day layoff. The Irish defeated Army 93-60 on Nov. 24. … The Irish had five players score in double figures in their last game with Grant and Sherman getting 19, Zach Auguste scoring 14, Atkins 13 and Demetrius Jackson 11. … The Big Red is coming off an 83-70 loss to Western Michigan on Friday. Cornell is 0-8 for the first time since the 1981-82 season and lost 14 in a row, dating back to last season. … Notre Dame leads the all-time series 7-1.
