ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell seniors Devin Cherry and Shonn Miller have been named co-captains for the 2014-15 season it was announced by Bill Courtney, the Robert E. Gallagher '44 Head Coach of Men's Basketball.

Cherry becomes the 17th multi-year captain in Cornell men's basketball history and the first since Chris Wroblewski '12. The 6-3 guard from Meridian, Miss. averaged 12.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 42 percent from the floor in 28 starts during a breakout junior season in 2013-14. He ranked fifth in the Ancient Eight in assists and in the top 20 in both scoring and rebounding, one of just four players in the conference to meet all three of those thresholds. Cherry was one of just two players in the Ivy League to average at least 14 points, four rebounds and three assists in Ivy League play (14.0, 4.8 rpg., 3.5 apg.), joining first-team all-league pick T.J. Bray of Princeton. He had a career-high 29 points against Yale at home and then notched 17 points, a career-high 10 assists and seven rebounds vs. Brown. Cherry scored 22 points with three rebounds and three assists at Dartmouth and notched 21 points and seven rebounds at Saint Peter's. Cherry posted his first career double with 13 points, 12 rebounds and four assists at Brown. He ended the year with 20 double figure scoring games.

Miller, who missed the entirety of the 2013-14 season due to a shoulder injury, was a first-team All-Ivy League selection as a sophomore the previous year. He averaged 11.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 1.9 blocks and 0.9 assists in 27 starts in 2012-13, shooting 48 percent from the floor and 79 percent from the free-throw line. Miller posted 18 double figure games and four double-doubles on the season. He led the Ivy League in defensive rebounding (5.5 per game) and was third in blocks and second in steals. He joined Ivy League Player of the Year Ian Hummer as the conference's only players to rank in the top 10 in the Ancient Eight in scoring, rebounding blocks and steals. An all-tournament selection at the Las Vegas Invitational, Miller had some monster games during the season, including a 23-points, 10-rebound effort against Princeton. He dominated in the win over Colgate with career highs of 20 points and 14 rebounds to go along with four blocks and three steals and notched 15 points, seven blocked shots and five steals in the win over Dartmouth. Miller became the first player in Cornell history to notch at least five blocks and five steals in a single game. He was named Ivy League Player of the Week once during the season. Miller was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year as a freshman.

Cherry, Miller and the rest of the Big Red open the 2014-15 season on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at George Mason.
