• The Albany Times Union writes:

 Campus Watch: CBA grad starts strong in return to Cornell
CBA grad who sat out last season averages 12 points

Galal Cancer is back on the court for the Cornell men's basketball team.
Cancer, from Albany (CBA), played in 56 games with 13 starts his first two seasons with the Big Red, but he sat out last season for personal reasons.
This season, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior guard is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.0 points.
He had 19 points, which tied a career high, in a 76-71 loss to Loyola (Md.) and 18 points and eight rebounds in a 67-60 triumph over Canisius. He's also averaging 3.5 rebounds and is second on the team in assists (18) and tied for first in steals (10).
Cornell (4-4) will host UMass-Lowell on Saturday in a nonleague game in Ithaca.

• On the oldest college basketball rivalries, USA Today notes with respect to Idaho and Washington State that they "played one another 109 consecutive years. The Cougars lead the all-time series 162-108. The only continuous college men's basketball series that have run longer all are in the Ivy League: Columbia-Yale (115 years), Princeton-Yale (115), Pennsylvania-Princeton (114), Columbia-Pennsylvania (113) and Cornell-Pennsylvania (113)."
