News and Notes: Wednesday Edition

Below, news and notes for Wednesday...

Cornell (5-4): Surprising the preseason pundits who picked the Big Red to finish dead last, this Cornell squad has managed some impressive early season wins. Its defensive rebounding has been among the Ivy League’s best, while opponents have shot inefficient marks of 37.0 from the field and 31.5 from beyond the arc.
So far in nonconference competition, there have been more eye-catching losses than wins. That isn’t surprising. The league, which advanced six teams to the 2014 NCAA tournament, graduated 12 of the 15 players named to the three all-A-10 teams last season.
Richmond lost to James Madison, Fordham fell to Maryland-Eastern Shore and UMass-Lowell, George Mason lost to Cornell, Massachusetts lost to Florida-Gulf Coast, Saint Joseph’s lost to Fairleigh Dickinson, and Saint Louis lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
