The Portland Trailblazers formally announced the addition of Cornell's Jeff Foote ('10) to the team's training camp roster.

- Several Cornell committed recruits were in action over the weekend. At the Telus Basketball Classic held at the University of British Columbia in Canada, committed Cornell recruit, 6'11" 265 lb. Braxston Bunce (above), scored 20 points in a semifinals victory and 26 points in the championship to guide Kelowna to the tournament title. Meanwhile, in the Plum Tournament in western Pennsylvania, committed Cornell recruit, Nolan Cressler, notched 20 points in a semifinal game, then pumped in 29 points in the championship game as his host Plum squad captured the championship. Plum's title game win was over Highlands High School and Division I commitment, Micah Mason, who is headed to Drake next year. In a game featuring a half dozen committed Division I recruits and nearly a dozen future Division I players, Cornell commit, Tim Higgins (below, left), a 6'10" center, notched 11 points and 5 rebounds as his Paul VI team captured the championship of the National High School Hoops Festival at DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. DMVElite writes, "The Panthers [of Paul VI High Schoo] feature a deep talent pool in Stanford Robinson – who has added scholarship offers from Marquette and Virginia in recent days – Patrick Holloway [George Mason commit], [Coleman] Johnson (Fairfield) [commit], Higgins (Cornell) and senior point guard Tilman Dunbar (Navy)." Robinson told the media, "I think it got a little personal. Tim Higgins, our center, I think he willed us back into it. Seeing him just step up tremendously, it put us all back into that one circle, and we stayed together and decided to fight.”
- Nets Are Scoring, Nets Daily, and the Ft. Wayne Journal Gazette all note that Jeff Foote (Cornell '10) (above) was not in attendance on Friday night for an NBA D-League game with the Springfield Armor against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Foote is currently attending the Portland Trailblazers training camp while under contract with the Armor.
- The Portland Trailblazers officially announced their 2011 training camp roster with the addition of Foote. The team's release notes, "...Foote (Center, 7-1, 260) also plays in the D-League, where he is posting averages of 16.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.50 blocks in two games with the Springfield Armor. The back-to-back Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year from 2009-10, Foote helped Cornell to the Sweet 16 his senior year and has played overseas in Israel and Spain." - Bleacher Report writes, "During [Tom] Crean's first season at [Indiana] (2008-09: 6-25, 1-17 in the Big Ten), the Hoosiers' list of victories was short and sad: Northwestern State, IUPUI, Chaminade, Cornell, TCU and Iowa."
- Cornell RPI Watch: The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a measure of strength of schedule and how a team does against that schedule. It does not consider the margin of victory, but only whether or not a team won and where the game was played (home/away/neutral court). The formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents' average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage (OOWP). (See: CollegeRPI.com for a further explanation of the formula.) The RPI may be the most influential factor in NCAA Tournament seeding. Cornell's RPI rank as of December 12 is No. 230 out of 344 total Division I teams. While neither the Ken Pomeroy or Jeff Sagarin rankings are used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the KenPom.com site ranks Cornell No. 175 in the nation, while the USA Today Sagarin rankings have Cornell at No. 225. Both sites are predominantly used by fans and the media.

- Cornell will have at least five games televised during the 2011-2012 season including at Princeton (Verizon Fios1), at Stony Brook (Cablevision 118), at Maryland (ESPN3), at Illinois (ESPN3) and at Penn State (Big Ten Network). Time Warner Cable and Comcast Sports are among other networks that may also pick up Cornell games against Ivy League opponents such as Columbia and Penn.
- If you have not had the opportunity to check it out yet, take a look at the exclusive Inside Tour of Cornell Basketball. The tour video was produced by the staff of Slope Media with background music performed by Cornell alumnus, Alex Kresovich. The background song, is the main theme song for the 2012 version of the video game, NBA2K. - Throughout the year we provide periodic updates on Cornell's alumni playing professionally. Below, some updates:
-Jeff Aubry ('99) (Halcones Rojos, LNBP Mexico premier league/Arecibo Capitanes, BSN Puerto Rico premier league)-As of December 12, Aubry is averaging 6.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. On December 10, in a 87-57 win over Pioneros, he finished with 6 points and 4 rebounds Halcones is 24-5 (2nd place out of 14 teams in the Mexican LNBP). Aubry, a 6'11" center, splits his time in both the Mexican and Puerto Rican professional leagues. He is also a member of Puerto Rico's national team joining several NBA stars. A well traveled pro player, Aubry spent several seasons in the NBA D League in the early part of his career with the Fayetteville Patriots and Florida Flame and earned honorable mention all D-League in 2002. During his more than a decade of pro experience, Aubry has also played professionally in the ABA (Miami Tropics) and abroad in Puerto Rico (Arecibo, Leones de Ponce, and Santurce, BSN Puerto Rico), Spain (Tarragona, LEB Gold Spain 2nd Division), Mexico (Halcones Rojos and Chihuahua Dorados, LNBP Mexico premier league), Poland (Slask Wroclaw, PLK Poland premier league), Argentina (Libertad Sunchales, Liga A Argentina), Uruguay (Hebraica, LUB Uruguay )and Peru (Alas Peruanas, Peru).-Cody Toppert ('05) (Ourense, LEB Silver Spain 3rd Division)-As of December 12, Toppert is averaging 5.9 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. On December 10, in a 77-68 loss to Plasencia, he finished with 3 points and 3 rebounds. Ourense is 6-3 (5th place out of 13 teams in the Spanish LEB Silver). During his pro career, Toppert, a 6'4" wing forward, has also played in England (Plymouth Raiders, British Basketball League), Italy (Forli, LegaDue Italy 2nd division), the CBA (Great Falls Explorers), as well as in Portugal (Barriernese, LCB Portugal premier league), Germany (Goettingen, BBK Bundesliga Germany premier league) and New Zealand (Taranaki Mountain Airs, NBL New Zealand premier league).-Jason Hartford ('08) (Unsigned free agent)-As of December 12, Hartford is unsigned for the 2011-2012 season. He was cut during the week of October 17 by Cader Rocha, LUB Uruguay premier league and is now a free agent. He was averaging 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, second on the team in both categories. The 6'9" Hartford previously played professionally in Portugal (Ginasio, LCB Portugal premier league), Finland (Huima, Korisliiga Finland premier league) and Mozambique (Maxaquene, D1 Mozambique premier league).-Louis Dale ('10) (Goettingen, BBK Bundesliga Germany premier league)-As of December 12, Dale is out for the season with a torn ACL. He was averaging 11.9 points, 2.2 assists, and 2.0 rebounds per game before the injury. Dale is in his second professional season, both seasons in Germany with Goettingen.-Ryan Wittman ('10) (Unsigned free agent)-As of December 12, Wittman is unsigned for the 2011-2012 season after he terminated his contract on September 26 with Zastal of the PLK Poland premier league. He played the 2010-2011 season in Italy (Forli, LegaDue Italy 2nd division) and in the United States (Fort Wayne Mad Ants, NBA D-League).-Jeff Foote ('10) (Springfield Armor, NBA D-League)-As of December 12, Foote is averaging 16.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game in the D-League. He also is currently participating in the Portland Trailblazers' training camp. Springfield is 4-1 (1st place out of 8 teams in the Eastern Conference). He played the 2011-2012 preseason with with Zastal of the PLK Poland premier league and the full 2010-2011 season in Spain (Melilla, LEB Gold Spain 2nd division) while on loan from Euro League powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel.-Adam Wire ('11) (Vaerlose, Denmark BBK premier league)-As of December 12, Wire is averaging 11.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.9 assists per game. On December 7, in a 76-67 win over Aalborg, he finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Vaerlose is 5-10 (9th place out of 10 teams in the Danish BBK). On November 4, 2011 he was named the Eurobasket Player of the Week for Denmark. The 2011-2012 season is his rookie year.
-Aaron Osgood ('11) (Vaerlose, Denmark BBK premier league)-As of December 12, Osgood is averaging 10.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. On December 7, in a 76-67 win over Aalborg, he finished with 13 ooints and 17 rebounds. Vaerlose is 5-10 (9th place out of 10 teams in the Danish BBK). The 2011-2012 season is his rookie year.
