- On Cornell's season opening win over Western Michigan, MLive.com writes today, "The Broncos dropped their season opener Saturday at Cornell, 63-55, but showed some fight against an opponent that coach Steve Hawkins said should do 'pretty dang well in the Ivy League.' The Big Red did not look like the typical Ivy League team, according to the Broncos coach. 'These guys were all about pressure, they had athletes, got out, denied, ran,' Hawkins said."

- The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review writes, "Cornell freshman guard Nolan Cressler, a Plum graduate, earned the Ivy League’s Basketball Rookie of the Week award on Monday after coming off the bench and scoring a game-high 20 points — a school record for a freshman debut — in a 63-55 nonconference win over Western Michigan on Saturday. The 6-foot-4 Cressler added two rebounds, an assist, a blocked shot and a steal in 18 minutes. Cressler was the second-leading scorer (25.6 points per game) in the WPIAL last season and is Plum’s all-time scoring leader."
- The Wisconsin State Journal writes, "The Badgers will end the week by hosting Cornell on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Kohl Center in a game that falls under the umbrella of the Las Vegas Invitational. The game will tip off at 5 p.m. and is not on TV; it is on the web at espn3.com...Cornell skinny: The Big Red bring back bad memories for the Badgers. A senior-laden Cornell team beat UW 87-69 in the second round of the 2010 NCAA tournament. The Big Red was 8-of-15 from 3-point range and shot 61.1 percent overall. Cornell went 12-16 last season under coach Bill Courtney, who is 22-34 in two seasons with the Big Red. Cornell opened the season with a 63-55 victory over visiting Western Michigan on Saturday. Nolan Cressler, a 6-4 freshman guard, led the way for the Big Red with 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting from behind the arc. Senior forward Errick Peck and sophomore guard Galal Cancer added 10 points apiece for the Big Red. Cancer also had seven assists. Sophomore forward Shonn Miller had nine points, six rebounds, six blocks and three assists off the bench. The game at UW will be part of a stretch in which Cornell will play four games in seven days. Cornell hosts St. Bonaventure on Wednesday and Saint Peter’s on Friday. Cornell is located in Ithaca, N.Y."
- Jeff Foote (Cornell '10) and his teammates of Zalgiris of Lithuania share a light moment before they travel to Zagreb, Croatia for their second game against Cedevita in the EuroLeague on November 16. Zalgiris is currently ranked No. 2 in Europe behind Real Madrid.

- Cornell RPI Watch: The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a measure of strength of schedule and how a team does against that schedule. It does not consider the margin of victory, but only whether or not a team won and where the game was played (home/away/neutral court). The formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents' average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage (OOWP). (See: CollegeRPI.com for a further explanation of the formula.) The RPI may be the most influential factor in NCAA Tournament seeding. Cornell's RPI rank as of November 13 is No. 27 out of 344 total Division I teams. While neither the Ken Pomeroy or the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) are used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the KenPom.com site ranks Cornell No. 185 in the nation, while the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) have Cornell at No. 170. Both sites are predominantly used by fans and the media.
