News and Notes: Wednesday Edition

  • The Daily Princetonian predicts the Ivy League race, picking Cornell for 3rd place and writes, "Cornell (79): Cornell edged Columbia and Penn in a tight race for the third spot. Shonn Miller is the reigning Rookie of the Year, and Errick Peck will return after missing the 2011-12 season with an injury. But the Big Red’s offense struggled last season and will lose its two most efficient players, Chris Wroblewski and Drew Ferry. If Cornell makes a charge this season, it will likely be led by defense."
  • The Philadelphia Inquirer lists Cornell's Shonn Miller as one of the league's top ten returning players, and writes, "Cornell (12-16) is expected to improve, led by Miller, the Ivy League rookie of the year last season."
  • The Boston Herald writes, "Columbia broke into the top half of the preseason poll for just the fourth time in school history. The Lions are followed by Cornell, Penn, Yale, Brown and Dartmouth.Cornell returns 10 of its top 12 scorers from a year ago, including reigning Ivy League rookie of the year Shonn Miller, a sophomore guard." 
  • Devin Cherry and Shonn Miller appear in a photo caption on Kentucky.com, a preview of Kentucky vs. Maryland.
  • The Cornell Club of New York will welcome several Cornell alumni working as officers in the NBA to speak on the topic of The Business of Basketball with the NBA.
  • The EuroLeague has published its preview of Zalgiris' and Jeff Foote's (Cornell '10) November 9 game against Anadolu Efes of Turkey.  Anadolu Efes has former L.A. Laker, Jordan Farmar on its team.
