It might not have been pretty, but it was exactly what the St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team wanted.  With their 65-55 triumph over Bethune-Cookman last Friday, the Bonnies accomplished the first goal they had set in the preseason: to be 1-0 on Nov. 9.The next, and undoubtedly more difficult, goal? To win that first game away from the Reilly Center.  Bona gets the opportunity to do just that when it meets Cornell in one of its two nationally-televised contests tonight (7 o’clock, NBC Sports-TV, ch. 57, WPIG-FM, WHDL-AM) at Newman Arena.  “It’s a tough test,” said Bona coach Mark Schmidt, who has started out 1-0 in five of his six seasons. “Our goal was to be 1-0 and now we move on. We want to try to be 1-0 on the road. We know how difficult it is. You hear all the time you’re down 10 before the game even starts.”
  • A gambling site, Sports Chat Place, discusses tonight's game between Cornell and St. Bonaventure and has the Bonnies by -3.
  • The Cornell Club of Wisconsin has an event planned for Cornell's visit to Wisconsin on November 18.  The Club notes:
  • Come watch the Cornell University Big Red take on the University of Wisconsin Badgers

    • Cornell RPI WatchThe RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a measure of strength of schedule and how a team does against that schedule. It does not consider the margin of victory, but only whether or not a team won and where the game was played (home/away/neutral court). The formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents' average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage (OOWP). (See: CollegeRPI.com for a further explanation of the formula.) The RPI may be the most influential factor in NCAA Tournament seeding. Cornell's RPI rank as of November 14 is No. 184 out of 344 total Division I teams. While neither the Ken Pomeroy or the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) are used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the KenPom.com site ranks Cornell No. 187 in the nation, while the Sagarin Rankings (USA Today) have Cornell at No. 173. Both sites are predominantly used by fans and the media.
