The young Siena basketball team has proven it can overcome adversity through the first four games of the season. Tonight, fans get a first chance to see how the Saints deal with success.
It's a prospect that has head coach Jimmy Patsos
concerned.
concerned."I'm very nervous," Patsos said. "Because in today's society people have wins and then they let down. You have a big win, can you handle it? Next thing you know, they lose."
Patsos is guarded after Siena's dramatic 72-70 buzzer-beating win over St. Bonaventure Tuesday night, his first as head coach of the program. It was the second straight encouraging effort from a Siena team that dresses seven freshmen and has started four each of the last three games.
Friday night Siena tries for its first road win of the Patsos era against a snake-bitten Cornell team looking for its first victory.
"Cornell has been on the rise," Patsos said. "The Ivy League's been getting better as a league. They've had a lot of success, they know how to win and they shoot a lot of threes. That's dangerous for us."
The Saints will be without starting center Javion Ogunyemi who injured his right ankle Tuesday night and sophomore Rich Audu who is yet to play this season with an ankle injury.
